Moving waived tests to TJC

We are currently CAP and TJC accredited for all POCT. What are the disadvantages, if any, to moving waived tests to just TJC?

Thanks in advance!

Previously, I could only think of one example where TJC was more restrictive - and that was even with a waived method, if it was instrument-based (not a manual method), you had to have two levels of external QC per day of patient testing.  But they took that requirement away a few years ago.

The only other drawback that comes to my mind is that with TJC, you always get TJC inspectors, rather than a group of your peers, as if often the case with CAP.  I have found that there is a level of 'understanding' when inspected by a group of your peers who are often in the same 'trenches' as you are, unlike inspectors who are not.  But on the flip side, if you move waived testing to TJC, you will not have a dedicated lab inspection, as it will be covered with your overall facility inspection, and will be just one of many areas to inspect.

One other benefit to TJC, they still allow for a credentialing option for waived testing performed by licensed providers.  That can be helpful.  CAP took away that option in the past couple of years.
