Fecal Occult Blood Training Samples

Hello everyone,
I am Mike Stetz from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia POCT team. We are trying to find an alternative to using peanut butter as a fake patient sample during training sessions for Fecal Occult Blood tests. Mostly due to the potential for allergic reactions, but also we are trying not to use a food product moving forward. Does anyone have feedback about what your facilities have used and if you've experimented with any different mediums for training samples?
Thanks for the help.

Hi Mike-
Our hospital uses old CAP samples for sample testing

Hi BreAnn, I just joined the group today and saw your question. Yes...I have experience with the HemaPrompt Fecal Occult Blood Testing kit. I just implemented this test in our ER for the critical and fast track sides. We love this kit! Initially we had the Hemoccult Sensa which was a nightmare. There were 2 different kinds and every time I would do monthly checks the developer would get interchanged somehow!! This kit eliminates developer bottles. I trained most of the ER nurses and doctors and they love it as well. Results in 60 sec. Can't see any cons as of yet. Easy to use and everyone is following protocol. Let me know of any additional questions. Thanks!
Mike...I just wanted to say to your question, that we use old CAP Occult Blood testing material for our training. Works great! Thanks!
I have used refried beans or chocolate pudding with iodine in them to get the positive.
