Can anyone doing Inter-operative PTH offer any advice? I haven't heard too much about these, and I have been asked to take a look at them. Anyone using an instrument they like, who is running them, and what problems do you have? I would appreciate any comments.

We are using Future Diagnostics' EIA test kits and analyzer. It is a partial manual procedure requiring manual pipetting. The washer does the washing and the analyzer adds the activators and reads the plate. Since it is high complexity, lab personnel are running the test.
Pros: Results ready in 10 minutes.
Cons: Manual process; 6-point calibration and 2 QC daily - we had problems with some lot numbers.
I heard that Roche has one that runs on the Cobas 411 - totally automated. Trying to convince my facility to switch.
We have been using the Cobas e411 for quite a few years. It is a very reliable, fast procedure. Since it is a more involved test method, our lab techs run this in two OR labs within the hospital. Surgeons are very happy with results. The one drawback is its size. It is rather large and difficult to accommodate in a POCT area.
Our OR floor sends ioPTH to the core lab via tube. Run on cobas line and result is always called.
