I am looking into a POCT for Hgb at a Pediatric only clinic. What has everyone found as a good waived option that works well in the Pediatric population? Thank you for your input.

The Hemocue Hb 201 works well. The cuvettes have a 3 month open shelf life. Controls are good for 30 days. If you have ever given blood at the Red Cross, they use a larger version of this model but the hands on is the same.
Our peds clinics are also using HemoCue 201+, but we are changing to the HemoCue 801. The 801 has a longer open shelf life for the cuvettes (until listed expiration) and the results come in a little faster. Also, our 201s were coming to the end of their life (we've had them for ~7+ years). They are very easy to use.
We use the Hemopoint. It seems to work well and correlate to the lab. I think both the Hemopoint an Hemocue are both fine. I have used ours in the same setting
for over 5 years and it still works great.
We are peds and use the Hemocue 201DM. Inexpensive. Little to no interferences - gives great results and easy to use. They really last forever with heavy use. Life span is about 7 years but we've had them last much longer.
We use the Hemocue 201+. Cuvettes can be purchased individually wrapped and are good until the date on the wrapper or in a bottle where they are only good for 90 days once opened. They are stored at room temperature. The controls we use are refrigerated, and are good for 60 days from opening if kept refrigerated or 30 days at room temp. Correlates well with our main lab. I have been in this position for 7 years, and there were in use before I started.
Hemocue 201+. A work horse. Simple. In all my pediatric clinics with heavy usage. We use the 100 cuvette bottle due to amount used. Daily QC(we are TJC). Use the RNA controls HI and LO....30 day expiration date when open. Only 6 month for unopened.
HemoCue 201 here also. Have used this for at least 8 years +. It has a DM model, so if you want to interface it, that can be done.
