Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had more than 20 ABL90's that is being used as Point of Care in their institutions?
Wanted to get some feedback :)
Thanks so much!
Anna

Hello Anna,
Twenty ABL90s that is a lot! My institution was going to switch from I-STAT to ABL90, but unfortunately COVID happen. I would trade the 29 I-STATs that I have for the ABL90s. The ABL90 are very good instruments in my opinion. They are not perfect but small amount sample for blood gases, results in seconds and all materials within the instrument.
Hi Anna,
Not quite 20, but we have 13 ABL90's. A mix of the Flex Plus and the normal Flex. They are great instruments, very user friendly. Like all, they have their issues but overall we have been extremely happy switching over from iSTAT's.
Bridget,
Are you using the ABL 90 as a true POCT instrument (test is ordered After the test is performed and auto verified) or as a Laboratory instrument (test is ordered before performed and verified after the test is performed)?
We are struggling to transition from iSTATs to ABLs because of this reason. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!
I like the ABL90 too, we have 6 in our hospital right now. We are doing the same with the iSTAT Debra, everything is unsolicited. They'd have to run it first before the patient gets charged. Everything is communication order.
In my opinion 20 is alot. The consumables only have 30 days on board stability. It would cost a lot if you will have 20 ABL 90's.
We have 8 ABL90s a mix of Flex and Flex+. Surgery/Cathlab has 5 analyzers and our PICUs have 3. They are expensive to run, but they love them in surgery/cathlab. Only 38 seconds to results.
Hi Anna,
We are running on both a solicited and unsolicited workflow. I have found that we have more compliance and it is the easiest for all parties if the test remain true point of care and are unsolicited. We have had more luck doing this and utilizing the wireless capabilities of the 90.
