Recent Joint Commission "Virtual" Inspection?

Has anyone had a recent Joint Commission survey (Virtual or other) since the COVID Pandemic?  My TJC inspection was just before COVID happened...I am asking for a friend (really) but I am also interested in how this works virtually since our main lab will be inspected by CAP within the next 6 months.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Sonya! Hope you are well :) We are right in the middle of our very first virtual CAP inspection. It is so new, that even some folks at CAP were surprised to hear it. Haha. So far the way it has been organized is working really well. Our peer inspection team has sent our MD a specific list of documents that they want to see from each section and checklist, after reviewing our pre-inspection materials and equipment lists. We in turn have created a special SharePoint site that only they and our quality team has access to (initiated on our end with support from our IT dept). Each section lead is able to upload the requested documents as a read only PDF, preferably watermarked (SOP's, employee files, EP Evaluator, etc) to their designated folder on that SharePoint. The peer inspectors will be given access to that site on the day of our official inspection. At the same time, they have coordinated to send one in-person inspector that will not go to any patient care area, but will do the Lab General checklist in our lab that same day. We also have Skype calls arranged with our section inspector at a specific time that day. Its not perfect, but we think it will work fine.

Sent via Groupsite Mobile.

I am interested in this topic also. My TJC was due in March and has not occurred yet. We were contacted yesterday to see if we were interested in a virtual survey.

I think it would be great if those who have gone through the "new" inspections would post once they've gone through it, or even if people post about how they're getting ready. Our CAP inspection is scheduled for October, and we've been told it will be part virtual and part "we're not sure yet" on how they'll do the on-site part. We have 11 hospitals, plus 2 cancer centers, so they will be taking a week for that part. Let's share information in this new world.

WE are also due for inspection sometime, anytime.

Ours were originally June  and  August for the 2 hospitals but they were postponed.

I too would like to know how they do the inspections.  We are TJC inspected.

CAP just email the inspection Process Modification. I think it is a good idea and all very new.
