We have a Point of Care Testing Coordinator position available at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, the largest hospital in the Hartford Healthcare system.  We oversee approximately 16 different waived and non-waived programs, 2500 operators and equipment including 300 glucose meters (Abbott Freestyle wireless), 65 i-STAT1, AVOXimeter 1000e, Verify Now Platelet Function Assays, DCA Vantage, Hemocue for urine Microalbumin and Clinitek Status.  Manual testing kits includes Urine HcG, Hemaprompt, pH and visual read dipstick urinalysis. 


The POCT Coordinator is involved in evaluating all new requests for POCT, researching and validating the equipment, implementing the programs and developing all policies and procedures related to POCT. The POCT Coordinator participates in all training and competency assessment for the various programs. 


The hospital's POCT program is accredited by the Joint Commission for both waived and non-waived testing.  The Coordinators are actively involved in the hospital's Continuous Readiness Committee and in establishing and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance to the Joint Commission and CLIA standards and guidelines as they relate to POCT.


The position is Monday through Friday and offers flexible hours.

Yes there are currently  two full time people.  One is retiring in April.  This person would take over for her.  In addition when she leaves or just prior the
plan is to add a third person.  This is really the third person spot that we are hiring for now.
