We are considering bringing in the Clinitek Status + at one of our clinics. What type of QC are you all using?

We are using Quantimetrix level 1 and 2

We use  Quantimetrix Dropper Plus level 1 and 2. You can leave these out at room temperature for 30 days or keep them refrigerated until manufacturer's expiration date.

We also use Quantimetrix.  We use the dipper in the clinics because they are easier for the MAs to dip in the 8 second time allowed.  I am curious as to how often you are requiring QC?  We are currently running it every day of patient testing because I do not know how I could ensure they run it when they open a new vial of strips or shipment if they didnt do it daily.   I am wondering if you have some thoughts on that.

I have my clinics do QC monthly and with every new bottle of multistrips.
I have the QC required every 30 days (which might not catch every time a new bottle is opened). I also "round" on clinics and do QC checks. If I see anything that is an issue a email is sent to the manager/supervisor and director of that region. I will go back and do a second round of inspections to check on compliance.

We use Kenlor QC. It has a great outdate if kept refrigerated (two year from manufacturer), 30 days room temp. We do QC with every new operator, open box and at 30 days. We have QC lockout selected on the Cliniteks at the 30 days. Interfacing was a big project for us last year and have all 50 sites interfaced.

We also use Quantimetrix dropper plus and we have them do QC every day of patient testing.  I have the same thought process as Carolyn. :)

Here the intention is for clinics to purpose Quantimetrix Dropper Plus. I also see Quantimetrix Dropper (larger bottles and only 2 sets per box) which means I deal with double the number of QC lot#s coming into the clinics (I create the visual testing QC logs).

FYI I tried the Dipper (personally liked concept) but RN supervisors felt too expensive for 'individual' pouches plus commented that Medical Assistants were 'sloppy' using them (eg prop the pouch once opened on something in case they had to retest and it fell over, or not careful enough in opening the pouch).

I use MAS controls. They are dropper bottles with a two levels.  I have them run QC every day of patient testing and when opening a new bottle.  I have the Cliniteks set to lockout daily early morning.

We also use the Kenlor QC from Fisher.  Like the refrigerated shelf life of 2 years if kept refrigerated.  QC is set to lockout every day of testing.  We add barcodes to each bottle so they can scan the lot# of the QC bottle but they have to manually enter the expiration date.  If you want to have QC and operator lockout, you have to get the Clinitek Status Connect that has the base.  Also, need the base if you want to use barcode scanning and interface results to your middleware.
