What is everyone using for their bedside glucose meter?  Are they set up for wireless resulting?  If wireless what issues have you encountered or encountering right now?

Hi Joseph, I'm reaching out from the east coast of Canada so our regulations might be slightly different however, our region has the most strict cybersecurity regulations in place as its through our hub that the EU connects to North America for internet connectivity.  That said, even cloud based software that is common now goes through rigorous tests with our IT department whereby they try to hack the software before they will sign off to say we can implement.  All that to say that we have implemented wireless connectivity throughout hospital and have been wireless for about 4 years.  We use the Roche AccuChek Inform II meters that has been connecting to CobasIT 1000 for a long time.

We are preparing to move to Cobas Infinity in the next month or so and this software has been tested as mentioned above.  The only challenges we've had thus far with connectivity is there is a few "dead" spots in some of our older nursing units.  WiFi boosters have been installed but sometimes it doesn't help.  Its for this reason we have opted to have wired connections in those areas - the charging base is also the data transfer station and is connected to a PC.

We went live with 180 Nova Statstrips about a year ago, in that time I have had a few meters that had to be sent back because of completely losing wireless connection. More commonly a floor will have a meter that is not transmitting even after docking the meter, usually this can be resolved by taking the battery out and reinserting it. I would say this we see this issue a few times a month.

We use Nova Statstrip wireless. We've used both the old version and new version since 2012. The wireless works great for us. We've encountered a few areas that have a weak signal but they've been working to update the wireless system as a whole which has helped. I do have at least one hardwired dock in each area, just in case of wifi failure. We use security certificates for the wifi - the hardest part is tracking when those expire every 2 years so we can get new ones built with IT!

We have the same set up as Danyel Olson. We use Nova StatStrip Gen2 and utilize the WIFI setting across our health system (some of the ambulatory sites opt into hardwired connections only). There are very few locations in our hospitals that require the use of the hardwired docks, we troubleshoot these locations as needed and configure them to hardwired in order to correct connectivity issues they are experiencing.
We have an extensive IT system that requires high level validations of network security and we use the WIFI certificates like Danyel Olson.
