Arnbands in Cath Lab

Hello, looking for a better process of scanning the patient's armband for POC testing in the Cath Lab. Obviously cutting the armband off is not a desirable option even though it is sometimes in the way of the procedure and must be removed, and having a second armband printed is not a great option because you don't want additional armbands circulating (per inspectors). It's also a challenge sometimes to get to the correct wrist because of the draping. Every case is different, but many pose these problems. Thank you for your thoughts!

For the reasons you have cited: Our Cath Labs and OR's have designated POC analyzers that are customized exclusively for them. These systems are setup to accept the patient chart stickers which have the patient's 10 digit ID number barcode on them. The meters will only accept a 10 digit number for the patient ID. We have not had a problem with this to date.
All other analyzers are setup to only accept the patient's wristband which has the patient 10 digit account number on the barcode in addition to a "AC" which is truncated off: example: "AC1234567890". These meters will only accept this format for the patient ID.
