DCAVantage A1C Linearity Recommendation

Good morning! Can anyone recommend a A1C linearity product for the DCA Vantage? In addition to running QC on our new instrument we would like to run a linearity if there's a product available.

Thank you!

Hi Meaghan! We've never bought/used a linearity product from Siemens for the Vantage because of it being a waived test but I can see where running a product would be a good idea.
(In addition to using the red cell QC, I do comparisons with lab specimens and fingerstick Vantage results to also check the pesky bit with the tiny pipette!).
However, if you don't get a product suggestion, let me know and I'll ask my local rep who is really helpful, gets info quickly.

Hi Meaghan...I am in agreement with Ms. Peggy. We have never ran any linearity on the DCA. I implemented the machine at our Family Practice facility and trained nursing. It's waived and calibrated by the manufacturer. Just use the calibration card to obtain you curve before running a new lot. Run QC and perform your maintenance on a weekly, quarterly and as needed basis, your machine should be okay. You can, however, run comparison studies (I did this before we went live) if you are ever in doubt of results. Hope that helps!

Take a look at the BioRad Hemoglobin A1c linearity kit. It has values for the DCA.

We used a kit long ago - I want to say it was from Eurotrol. We haven't used it for years because it was really expensive, and the waived testing does not require it.

We have used the Bio-Rad Lyphocheck on all of our devices before we put them into the clinics. I just bought a new kit and started a linearity yesterday. There is no package insert with the kit anymore, you have to download it from the website. I went to look for my target values and they are no longer posted for the  DCA. The footnote comment is as follows:

I have a call in with Bio-Rad hoping they can help.
I called Siemens and they recommend a NOVA kit.

We have used both Lymphochek and Nova 1 linearity, but it has been years since we have used them. The last time we did was to work up new analyzers. As I recall, one type is frozen and the other is lyophilized. It has been so long I am not sure which was which. Both worked well.

Thank you all for your replies and helpful information! I will look into the Nova One Linearity kit.
