Our facility updated the network certificates since they were about to expire. As a result, all i-STAT analyzers lost connectivity to the wireless network. Unlike other wireless devices, the i-STAT analyzers do not automatically accept the new certificates. According to Abbott Tech Support, each i-STAT analyzer needs to be configured again using the instructions in bulletin 726066-00I. The statement in Appendix 3 says, “The timestamp generated at the time of Wireless Module configuration is the PC system clock date and time. Therefore, the Wireless Module must be configured using the i-STAT 1 Wireless Setup Utility at a date and time within the start date and expiration date of the certificates.” It is industry standard now for these certificates to only last 1 year. I'm dreading having to re-configure each i-STAT every year from now on. Has anyone found a way around this? Certificate Validation.JPG
Your IT department will renew the certificates all on their own. They will probably not know or think that they need to notify you. I do not know if there is an alternate encryption that can be used on the wireless i-STAT analyzers. Our analyzers are set up with WPA2 and PEAPv0 / EAP-MS CHAPv2 and all had to be reconfigured in order for them to connect again to the network.
