Amniotic Fluid Detection Testing

Hello,

I am looking at our current process for Amniotic Fluid detection and seeing if there are any more effective options out there. Currently we send Amnisures to a neighboring hospital and perform Actim Proms at our hospital. This helps us cover the <29 weeks gestation group by using Amnisures but also have the benefit of less intereferences with Actim Prom.

I looked into ROM Plus and the pricing seems very comparable to the other 2 methods but I am not crazy about the 75% Specificity and the processing time (20 minutes for a negative test).

We have also started discussions about doing our own validation on the Actim Prom for <29 weeks.

Has anyone encountered anything similar? What did you decide was best for your Hospital? Anyone successfully done a validation on Actim Prom for <29 weeks gestation?

Thank you!

Hello,

I don't have a lot of information to share but I will say we use the ROM Plus in our lab for the OB floor. A few of our OBGYN's prefer to perform fern testing with the scopes. I have heard one of the physicians specifically say he does not trust anything other than fern and so that is why he resorts to that.

Thank you for the input Alexis!
