Hello,
Our system currently uses either BD or MediChoice lancets to perform finger stick capillary blood sugar testing for adults. For infant heel stick collections, a blade-based, safety lancet such as the Tenderfoot Heel or the BD Quickheel device is used. Recently, our Birth Center has asked if we would look into smaller, needle-based lancets for point of care heel collections. The BD and Medichoice finger lancets do not have indications for heel stick punctures in their IFU. For Newborn Screening, laboratory bili or hemoglobin testing, a more substantial volume of blood is required and the blade lancets do the job but for POC blood glucose, only a drop is needed. What does your facility use for capillary collections - specifically POCT heel sticks? Thanks!

We have long used SLN100 - the yellow lancet. Very shallow, needle, low flow
