Wondering for those of you that run capillary samples on GEM 5000's if your staff use fleas/mixing bars on these samples? If yes, any issues? If not, any particular reason why? Thanks!

We use the fleas for our samples. Currently use safeCLINITUBES by radiometer. Gem 5000 requires a sample size of 150 microliters. My sample tubes hold 150microliters. So our challenge is to make sure capillary tubes are full to the brim. there is 0 room for error. I also train to collect 2 capillary tubes incase you get an insufficient error. I'm looking for a different capillary tube supplier but its not in the top 10 fires i have on my desk right now. We also encourage employees who collect the specimen to continuously mix the sample with the magnet till it reaches the lab. Last November we placed a GEM 5000 in our Nursery and have reduced our clotted samples by 75%. Samples need to be processed within 10mins of collection and it was a 7 min walk. That has been a game changer for our capillary specimens to be ran at the point of care.
