Replacement for AccuChek Performa glucometer

We have this glucometer on hand for emergency in our physician offices. Seldom used on patients, frequently QC'd, but they want to continue having something similar available.
This meter has been discontinued, and the test strips are only available until December. I am looking for a meter that can be cleaned and disinfected between patients.
I'd appreciate your recommendations!

Nova is good for emergency because it is the only meter that has FDA approval for critically ill patient use.

+1 for the Nova Statstrip glucometer

Nova StatStrip for sure. CLIA waived, FDA approved for critically ill and easy to use.

Nova has both an interfaced and non interfaced meter.  They are both great to use.  The non interfaced one is used in our clinics a lot because they don't need results to interface to charts..

Take a look at the Trumetrix Pro. Very similar to the Performa. https://www.trividiahealth.com/products/blood-glucose-meters-test-strips/true-metrix-pro/

Hi Julie,
Would you mind sharing why the clinics' patient glucose results do not have to interface with the patient chart?
Thanks!

Hi Peggy,
Most of our offsite clinics use Enter/Edit function in Epic to put the glucometer results into the chart if they want it in there.  The Enter/Edit function is designed for clinics and works great. Makes it very easy to set up the meter and maintain in a clinic.  Interfaces have their own issues.  They require a much larger investment of time to set up, maintain active users, validate and troubleshoot when something goes wrong.
One clinic we have at the hospital just uses their meter to compare with home meters and to teach how to perform a fingerstick.  Another area uses it to check the patient is stable while transporting.  That is where that type of meter has also been great.  Those don't need the result to go to the chart, because they are more educational/informative.  These were what I was thinking would help in response to your question.  Sorry if that was confusing.
Hope that helps.

Hi Julie,
Sure! We also use EPIC enter/edit for many manual tests that are not connected/interfaced due to cost to do that.
In our clinics, we are not allowed to use patient care meters, have to use the connected hospital meter, per the POC Lab governance.
Thanks!
