POC Training Checklist

Does anyone have a training checklist they are willing to share?  We have a broad overview for our POC staff that we use annually, but I am looking for something with more detail.

You can email me at:

On another note,  I am retiring next week and just wanted to thank everyone for sharing your knowledge, ideas, questions, sops, IQCPs and anything else I might have missed.  I've really enjoyed working with so many of you even if it is has only been through phone or emails.    POC is an ever changing field, one that I have learned so much from.  It will be interesting to see what it will look like in 5 or 10 years from now.

Take care all,
Cindy

I am actually working on a POC training checklist myself.  I will be training someone soon and working on creating one. I would appreciate any ideas or help as well.
 Happy retirement to you!!!

Congratulations & Enjoy retirement.
CAP & TJC - combined this meets the needs of our waived and moderate complexity that is used for annual competency.  We are a very small community hospital.

I am also interested in this.  melissa.burland@ufhealth.org

I have my POCT team complete all instrument competencies (I call them technical competencies), but I am working on a POCT employee competency for the department-based procedures. For Example, (1) Observe and perform non-waived certification/recertification in RALs.  (2) Perform an instrument swap out (document instrument serial number and department).

We are also looking at creating a whole onboarding handbook, and an ongoing competency checklist.  There are also a significant number of soft skills involved with being a POCC that are certainly not on any technical skills checklist, so trying to get our arms around that.  So much of what we have has been owned by individuals, and if anyone ever left suddenly, we'd be up a creek!  We're also trying to define the nuances between covering POCT in ambulatory, hospital and home-based care.  Not sure we'll make it before you retire, but happy to share when we have a finished product!!  I'd also love to see what anyone else has already created.  I'm sharing the current checklist that we're trying to expand upon; it's pretty bare bones.
