Thanks for posting this, Kayla
I tried to respond to their email with questions, but the return email address had a typo that made it undeliverable. Imagine others might have experienced that.

I couldn't find much online about the extent of the commitments other than number of years...
Are responsibilities performed remotely? How often are meetings? Any form of compensation?
Any former committee members care to offer their experience?

Hi Ken!

Thank you.  The link to the email address has been fixed.

The positions are all remote, and voluntary.

I have found being a committee member to be a very rewarding experience.  It is awesome to get to work with other passionate POCT professionals especially in advancing and steering the future of the field.

The Chair elect would require the biggest time commitment:
The responsibilities of the Chair include:
  • Chair POCT Professional Certification Executive Subcommittee (Officers and Chairs) meetings and Full committee meetings (Officers and members of standing committees). Identify processes or executive needs in discussion with the rest of the POCT Professional Certification Committee.
  •  Create ad hoc committees or task forces as needed to obtain more information and arrive at implementable solutions.
  •  Appoint members to lead POCT Professional Certification Committee defined projects.
  •  Set the agenda for regular and special meetings.
  •  Provide an annual report to the ADLM Board of Certification.
  •  Serve as the chief spokesperson for POCT Professional Certification Committee.
  •  Serve as liaison to ADLM leadership.
Term: The Chair shall serve a term of  3 years and shall be elected by voting members of the POCT
Professional Certification Committee. A 1-year Chair-Elect term will be required during which the
purpose is to observe procedures, then a 2-year term as Chair during which the above stated duties
will apply.

Chair, Examination Subcommittee
Term: 2 years, eligible to serve two consecutive terms if re-elected.
The role of the Exams Subcommittee Chair is to ensure a quality exam assessing current POCT practice is
administered and scored. The responsibilities of the Exams Subcommittee Chair include:
  •  Oversee the administration of CPP exams held within their term that will include maintenance of the exam blueprint, question selection, exam administration, oversight of exam result review, and examinee notification.
  •  Address exam question performance issues including question analysis, rescoring, and examinee appeals as needed.
  • Ensure the continual addition of question items for vetting within the question item bank.

Member, Exam Subcommittee
The role of the Exams Subcommittee is to oversee the quality of the certification exam and certify the results of the exam.  The Exams Subcommittee is to approve any changes to the exam test form*, using applicable, pre-tested items from test bank.  The subcommittee also is to review exam outcomes against approved cut scores. The Chair will report statistics of each exam outcome (numbers passing/failing, evaluation against cut score, and any others), and administrative staff will keep record. The subcommittee will approve standard language to be issued to test takers about their results, including language to officially certify passing candidates after each exam period. There are two exam periods annually.  The subcommittee will process any exam result disputes/decision appeals and set criteria to retake exam for unsuccessful candidates desiring to do so. Candidates are currently limited to one retake with a reapplication.  The members of this committee will be responsible for contributing to the item development process - either directly by writing or revising items or by managing the contributions of non-member volunteers.  Items will be reviewed yearly and updated in the testing database accordingly. Each member of this committee should contribute at least
5 questions per year. The responsibilities of the Exams Subcommittee include:
  •  Exam Item Selection
    •  Select question items from the item bank to meet the exam blueprint needs.
    •  Take question item performance into consideration and suggestion revisions as needed.
  •  Exam Results
    •   Analyze scored results after each examination (June and Dec 2019).
    •   Certify passing candidates (September and February of each year).
  •  Reapplication Terms
    •  Set criteria for reapplication and ensure standards are maintained (limited to one retake with reapplication).

  •  Appeals
    •  Process appeals with the POCT Professional Certification Committee and draft appropriate response letters (official communication).
  •  Question Item Assessment
  •  Analyze records of unscored items and determine criteria for new item inclusion for future exams.
    •  Approve test forms prior to exam administration and any changes to exam.
    •  Note: Upon recommendation from psychometricians, make no revisions to test form until results have been gathered from 100-150 test takers. Upon analysis of data from 100-150 test takers, determine if/how test form could benefit from item changes and make revisions accordingly.

  •  Work with supporting staff to process new CPP diplomates
    •  Staff will update online register with list of new diplomates.
    •  Staff will issue and mail certificates to new diplomates.
  •  Examination Subcommittee will determine items suitable to add to the item bank.
  •  Exams Subcommittee provides oversight for Item Writing Subgroup.

I hope you apply!

Kayla
