We are looking at bringing waived testing (only) to clinic locations. Can anyone recommend reliable, efficient, affordable, easy to use benchtop analyzers for BMP, H/H, lipids!  I appreciate everyone's input!!

Hi Kayla,
I can't contribute about 'affordability' per se but we have accommodated the cost to purchase the Hemocue 801, the strips and controls for hemoglobin testing in some Pediatric and Specialty clinics (Nephrology, Transplant). The key is the training to use the microcuvette and most of that relates to wiping and timing. Once operators 'get that down consistently', we have had no difficulties with using this model/brand.

I'm also interested in this. We currently use the HemoCue 201 DM and are considering upgrading to the 801 model. However, we were told by the rep the HemoCue 801 isn’t intended for hospital use, so we’ve been a bit hesitant. I’d be curious to know more about how others have implemented it in clinical settings, especially within hospitals or hospital-affiliated outpatient clinics.

Hello,
I used whole blood green tops samples on the Abaxis Piccolo for CMP testing at an urgent care and it goes well. We have it interfaced to EPIC through D.I. so all results chart automatically unless they have critical values. The staff like it and it is user friendly. I've had issues with QC for K and Na in the past, but otherwise works well.
