Greetings Everyone,

We are doing a little research to possibly replace our Point of Care Middleware (RALS).

Does anyone know anything about "Navify" Point of Care Middleware?

It is the new name for POC Infinity, previously cobas IT 1000.

Just out of curiosity....why are you considering replacing RALS?

We are doing a little research. RALS can be expensive.

IT is costly. I would make sure to check several things if you're considering alternatives. What is the service like? What is the list of instruments that can be connected--does it include all the devices in your system. Can you manage your operators, reagents, devices within the system. What additional systems will be needed to manage devices? What are the "extras" like connections to a learning system, manual result entry, etc. What are the reporting capabilities--do they match what you need for your program (i.e. QC reports, operator expirations, etc.).
Any middleware is going to be expensive. Just make sure that, in trying to save money, you are not getting everything that is important to your program.

Kathleen has given you some excellent advice.

We just did this for 70+ hospitals. You might want to check with your IT department to see if servers could be consolidated-if you are a multi hospital system.  For computer validations or adding additional testing, ideally, a separate "test" system should be a requirement.

Ask to talk to those who have the systems that you are looking (ask the sales reps for a comparable program in size and instruments) and ask those users questions that Kathleen has posed.

There are few systems that can do everything for all items/instruments in a POC program-manual testing and automated items. If you find one that is "perfect" for you, it might be out of your budget.

The thing that I would advise is to look for a "perfect" system by talking to people who have it....and decide what you can live with/without if you have to purchase a system that is not "perfect".

I currently use Infinity/Navify for our glucometers and I am in the process of moving other testing & analyzers over to Navify. I am moving the Avoximeter, Istat Creatinine & ACT testing to this platform. We currently have Telcor and Navify as middleware for our POC testing. It has proven to be cheaper for us to use Infinity and add testing than it is with Telcor. I think that Infinity is very user friendly as far as monthly reports and managing users. I can monitor daily and monthly QC, disable expired lots, and enter new lots when needed.
I do think it's important to do your own research to see what you're comfortable with and make sure it makes sense for you. Infinity/Navify is going to a subscription-based application so I would keep that in mind as well.
