GEM100 New Device

Good morning all! We are currently embarking on updating from the Hemochron Sig Elites to the GEM100s. I have a few questions for other POCCs out there.
In your policies and procedures, how do you work through the < or > results requiring a repeat? We use Telcor for our interface and I was thinking we could navigate through there.
Do you have any information in your training or procedure on timing for testing? We have heard about testing at 3 to 5 minutes post bolus.
Is anyone willing to share their procedure with me?
Is anyone willing to share their IQCP with me?

Does anyone have any advice on using wifi over the ethernet?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I will email you my procedure and IQCP. We just went live in May.

@Samatha Minor, would you be able to share your procedure and IQCP with me as well? Amanda.Bullwinkle@pennmedicine.upenn.edu

A word of note. The GEM 100 is only approved for adult populations. If you have a pediatric population, it would be off-label use, making it high-complexity. We ended up having to keep some Sig Elites for our peds patients. In the Operator Manual, "The system is intended for use only in point-of-care settings for patients aged 18 years and above."

Here is the procedure and I will forward the email that I sent to Erika witht he IQCP.

We leave the timing of the testing to those who are doing the procedure.
Generally, if we see an out of range high result, we get confirmation from the operator as to whether or not the test is a true >400 (or 1005) result. All results that are flagged with a > or < are held for review and not uploaded without confirming. Typically, though, if they get a < below device range result, we see a repeat soon after and do not upload the < below device range result.
We had major connectivity issues when our HIS upgraded the WiFi and it was not compatible with the GEM100s. It took a year and a half (not kidding!) to finally remedy the problem. The solution was multiple Cisco upgrades/tweaks and a software update on the devices themselves. In the meantime, we had to take devices to where they'd pick up a signal and manually download them. They are  now back to (mostly) autosending the results in real time. We resisted the temptation to go back to being wired-- after all, the wireless feature was a selling point, right?
Let me know if you still need a procedure or IQCP, I would be willing to share.
