Point of Care PTH testing

Does anyone utilize point of care for testing PTH? What has been your experience? How does it correlate with the lab? Would love to hear all pros and cons and what devices you have.

There isn't one for POC. We used Future Diagnostics but are now using Roche's Cobas e411. Although testing is in the OR, it is performed by lab personnel. The result TAT is about 12-15 minutes from collection. We are using a StatSpin centrifuge for 30 seconds to obtain plasma.

Same for our facility - no POC - used e411 and gave priority handling to all samples.  OR was happy with the TAT.  Now doing on Atellica.

We do this test at POC and have since 2012. We have used two different instruments, with our newest to go live later this month. There are no FDA approve PTH testing that is very POC. All of the FDA devices are lab like and require a bit more hand holding to be used at POC. Neither of our devices did correlate very well with main laboratory but the IOPTH is indicated for intra operative, while the routine testing is not indicated for intra operative patients. AMR has been our most recent barrier in testing due to reagent changes and biotin interference. Our current method is a 15-minute assay. We do have a small group of OR RNs that run this testing and have been successful.

I am happy to discuss if you would like to know more.
