Hi everyone,
For those of you using the Abbott i-STAT CG8+ cartridge, what test name/orderable are you using at your facility?
The CG8+ reports a broad menu of results, including blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, hematocrit, and calculated hemoglobin, so we're reviewing whether our current test name adequately reflects everything included in the panel.
Currently, one of our counterparts is using "Blood Gas Venous Panel," but that seems to underrepresent the additional analytes reported by the cartridge.
I'd be interested to know:
- What is the orderable/test name at your institution?
- Do you differentiate between arterial and venous specimens in the test name?
- Do you include references to electrolytes, glucose, Hct/Hgb, or is it simply named as a blood gas panel?
- Have you found a naming convention that helps providers better understand the full scope of testing available?
Any examples or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
