POC Total Cholesterol

Our Ambulatory Pediatric offices would like to add POC Total Cholesterol testing to meet the AHA, AAP, and NHLBI recommendation to begin screening pediatric patients beginning with 9-11 years of age. Our current meter the Roche Accutrend, controls and strips will be phased out in December 2027. The meter has already been phased out as of December 2025. Does anyone currently perform this test in a pediatric setting? What meter do you use? AimStrip Tandem, CardioChek, Cholestech, Mission Cholesterol? Pros and cons?
We have only evaluated one POC meter that did not meet our quality standards. We would appreciate any feedback on your experience as we trial other meters.

We use Cholestek in two peds offices. It works well however need for staff education is high, it is one of our more complex waived tests. A large sample is needed. Centers with lower peds volumes use labwork instead.
