Said: At my sites we do not lock up strips or lancets. As per disposal, for those patients on isolation these may be disposed in the sharps containers.

Storage of Lancets and Glucose Strips
I apologize if this topic has been covered, I found a discussion of similar interest but it didn't answer my questions.
Our compliance team is preparing for TJC inspection and are questioning why lancets were in unlocked cabinets and if they counted as sharps. Our answer was immediately yes and they should follow policy for sharps storage.
