Is anyone doing PTH testing as point of care in the OR and what meter are you using?

Hi Thomas,
I was asked to find a POC test for PTH intra-operative a few years ago. The best I could do was the E411 method from Roche. It is a 9 minute assay but it is not a small portable device. Our testing is done in the lab. We are across the hall from OR so we could make it work. Hope this helps!
We use the Tosoh AIA which is a moderately complex method. The test time is appox 20 min. We have limited it to 4 operators and it is working very well for us. Communication is the key. The instrument is a small table top size which sits on a mobile cart and the nurse runs the tests in the sub-sterile room. Point of Care coordinators do the calibration with each new lot of test cups which takes about 4 hours.
We also use the Tosoh but have 2 techs assigned to run it when there is a case. The OR has to coordinate with us, cannot do a case on the fly. Ivy Douglas
