Glucose Testing

I have just moved into the POC role and started enforcing the policies in place more strictly when a question came up. Is it best policy or accreditation policy that when a critical glucose is obtained it must be followed by a lab performed test to verify? And where can I find the literature to support? We are CAP accredited and use Nova meters.

As far as I know this is not required. Your hospital sets up the criteria for what is critical and for what needs repeated by lab. At our hospital we do not require a lab repeat for all critical values.
I agree, at least for TJC which is our accreditation for WT.
