Online Competency

Does anyone do online competency assessment for non-waived and waived testing.  We are looking at a more efficient way of doing yearly competencies as we have quite a number of users. If so, would I be able to have a copy of the training material to develop ours? If not, what topics do you go over and how do you collect the data for the observed aspect.

I will be off until Oct 25. If you have an urgent POC issue, call Pauline Kamenyi at 24219 or Meike Talley at 29397 for Sinai or Alana Agustin at 55816 for NW. You can also vocera point of care testing.
Thanks

Yes we do. We did poor man's way, built our way back using 'basic' web design software. It's ideal for waived testing with so many clinics and high nursing staff turnover. Our 'written tests' have had to be moved several times to university compliance platforms, some have and some have not allowed for 'validation tools' to be printed off once the test is 'passed'. We also have nonwaived on website as a written test and then that validation tool of course has to include requirement for observation.

Years ago for years we had entire POC website open but IT security has moved our site several times and forced locked door. I'm not allowed to share links outside, now links have to be able to open using intranet. I'm sorry.

Thanks for the input Peggy Mann!!

We use MediaLab.  It has test already built for alot of stuff, or you can build your own test.  You can even build an education course with an exam at the end if you want.  I upload powerpoints that I use as re-education for if someone fails exams.  It also keeps track of when someone is due for their 6 month or yearly exam and automatically sends them an email.  You can build check lists for visual competencies and you can upload documents such as a procedure then require the nurses to sign off on it. I have been using it for a few years.  Feel free to contact me offline if you want more information.

I use MTS - http://www.medtraining.org/ for some things. There are a lot of instruments/meters to choose from, plus you can build your own.

Also, I make my own tests and have them put in Net Learning; then Nursing Education pushes them out each year.

Hi Leah - is the cost for MTS by the person/operator? I've lost track! We did look into and continue to look into options for nonwaived but for waived, $ by number of operator is pricing us out of that path so far.

I don't believe it is by the operator. They gave me a flat price; if you sign up for more than one year at a time it's cheaper.

These are my quoted prices:

1 year 395.00

2 years 695.00

I use MTS as well; you are not "charged" by operator, but there is a cap on the number of accounts (operators) you can enroll, or at least there was.  The limits were either 200 or 400 accounts/operators.  Check with them though; perhaps they have dropped that.
