Hello,

We are investigating new ways to help decrease the TAT for our PTH in OR. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Jillian,

What is your current TAT? We run the test in the main lab using a LEAN standard process. Our target is 20 minutes.

We are able to do less than twenty minutes consistently.  We validated EDTA whole blood to remove the wait time for clotting of sample, removed the unit order process and have paper orders.  These paper orders are run to the Laboratory with the sample.  While the sample is centrifuged, the Laboratory enters the order and generates a testing label.  Then the sample goes straight from the centrifuge to the analyzer.

I believe our TAT right now is between 20 to 30 min.  We are using the Vitros 5600 which any testing takes about 18 min. to run alone.  Communication seems to be a big issue as well, so we are trying to see what may work better.
