Plt concentrate counts

I know this topic is not POC, but my pathologist asked for help. 

Does anyone perform platelet counts on apheresis concentrates, or random donor units, using their main lab hematology analyzer?  We are switching to a Sysmex XN which does not use the impedence count of our previous analyzer and are not getting good numbers.
