i-STAT result interface (UNIPOC and TELCOR)
Our four hospital system currently uses Telcor and Unipoc for istat result interfacing into EPIC.
Device -> Unipoc->Telcor->Epic
We have four point of care coordinators and we do not work under the Lab (it is contracted), therefore we do not have access to an LIS... so Telcor is, in a stretch, our LIS.
Does anyone currently have this type of setup, and if you do... how are your users getting their results into the EMR? We currently have a hard stop built in... where all end users log into Telcor after performing a test and enter required information before sending the result into EPIC. We want to move away from this... if you have a similar setup where resulting isn't a multi step process please share.
Thank you,
Brad

Brad, that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen and is just asking for documentation and regulatory issues. I would be focusing on finding the funding for an interface from Telcor to EPIC. I've not heard of anyone using a setup like this.
