Anyone using the Alere iCup for drug screening in outpatient settings? I am interested in what QC material you are using.

One of my outpatient clinics is using this. I called The representative at Alere recommended 88010 Alere iScreen Control Kit.

Are the clinics aliquoting and freezing the control? How often do you have your outpatient clinics performing QC? The package insert is rather vague regarding when QC is required. We typically have OP clinics perform QC with each new kit but this QC is only good refrigerated for a month.

They run controls every 30 days. It uses a lot of control, but they can get two uses per bottle by using half for the first run, and the other half for a second run at 30 days. We have to purchase 6 sets of controls per year.
