iSTAT ACT comparisons

For those of you that use the i-STAT ACT cartridge and have the HMS Plus on site. Do you perform 6 month correlations between these instruments? And if so, what samples do you use for testing?
Thank you,
Jennifer Parsons

We just implemented i-STAT ACT cartridges and previously had the HMS Plus. I was planning on only doing i-STAT to i-STAT correlations and HMS to HMS using QC. Would be curious to see if others are doing i-STAT to HMS.
Our cardiac surgery does ISTAT ACT and Hemochron (I know, it's not the HMS Plus). They very nicely perform both on patients during correlation time. Don't know if that is an option.
I have the perfusionist run comparison samples between I-stat and hms every 6 months aprox. I compare them with did the patient reach the goal anticoagulation state as Positive and under the goal (480 secs) as neg. Then compare them qualitatively.
Hi,
In the past, I would purchase older proficiency tests from API and use for correlations between the Hemochron HMS in the OR and one for the i-STAT in Cath Lab. My PT was CAP.

Thank you!

I asked CAP about this not long ago. The standard says if an analyte is performed on more than one platform (regardless of technology), but under the same CLIA they must be correlated every 6 months.
