Patient Glucose Results to EHR at Clinics

Good morning!
Question was asked about the obstacle of getting patient glucose results into the EHR at our Clinics. Currently, the patient's meter is downloaded, results printed, and scanned back into the record. (Possibly relevant, we are transitioning to EPIC.) What are others doing about this?

We interfaced all of our clinic meters to our hospital interface manager. They downloaded in the same way our inpatient glucoses did.
Hi Silka!
I apologize, but I meant to refer to patient-meter results. The tests they do on their personal meters?
We use Meditech, all POC results compile separately into the EMR via staff documentation so that results are clearly distinguished differently than our reference lab results. I wanted to have a clear distinction so that the providers would not forget potential system limitations. We do not incorporate patient obtained results within our EMR, but what you have mentioned regarding downloading and scanning makes the most sense.
Amber,
My understanding in Endocrinology Clinic is that the downloads from the patient meter are summarized as a note (in EPIC). I know it's not entered into a flow sheet or scanned as a laboratory 'result'. I think the summary is geared towards documentation in order for the MD to 'justify' how many strips are ordered.
