Cleaning Log for Glucometer

Hello,
I work at hospital where the nursing and nursing assistant staff do the POCT glucoses. We use the inform II, and I am wondering how you keep track if they clean the machines. Do you do random spot checks, and keep a log? Thank you

We use Abbott PXP meters and the expectation is that the device is cleaned after each patient use, as the device must travel into each patient room. I would see keeping a log for each meter on each unit for each use to be logistically impossible. In my 20 or so years in POC, I've not been asked to provide 'proof' of cleaning and am hoping that streak of luck, if you will, continues. As this could be applied to any device that travels into a patient room, I think that all parties involved agree that keeping records to that level of detail would be not just inefficient but impossible. Fingers crossed .
