Health Screenings

For those of you who are involved in assisting with community health screenings, what is your protocol for maintaining volunteer POC initial training documents? Do you provide an initial training at each event with all test user volunteers performing waived tests? Also, do you maintain all volunteer training documentation for 2 years? I was recently asked to assist with community health screenings for waived POC and the clinical staff is interested in developing a process where they wouldn’t have to retrain and maintain return non-employee volunteer documentation with a year timeframe. Any best practice advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I am also interested in how community health screens work with CLIA regulations.  If a third party vendor brings their staff and instruments onto a site that has a waived CLIA license for their own testing.....how does CLIA look at that testing?  Do the third party vendor staff need training documents and annual competencies that are documented and available to the testing site management?  or Does the third party vendor fall under the exception to the rule for needing a CLIA license for testing and therefore all the regulations that go along with having and keeping that license?  Thanks for any response.  Malinda Feinauer
