POC Lead Testing

I have a pediatric offsite clinic wanting to perform lead testing. Do any of you have this in your activity menu? What device are you using? Is it waived? Any advice to give as I begin this project?

We just implemented the Magellan LeadCare II, it is the only waived device on the market. You cannot interface the instrument, unfortunately. Also, we can only use capillary samples as there was a recall with vacutainers. If you are in Pennsylvania, be sure to review their requirements for PT, reporting, and repeat testing.
We use LedaCare II by Megellan. All of Zach's comments are true. What I like about it is the test kit comes with everything you need to do a test (Calibration, Controls, Reagents, collection devices,etc.). All you need is a skin puncture device, alcohol pads and gauze squares.
Meter is easy to use and Pediatric staff like it.
Magellan I believe is still the only player in the market. The Leadcare II is not capable of being interfaced, so if you want to report electronically via an interface you will need to step up to the Leadcare Plus. The interface requires the purchase of their Data Management System at an additional expense.
The Leadcare II lower end of discrimination is 3.3ug/dL, but the Leadcare Plus will go down to 1.9ug/dL.
Also, don't forget about who is responsible and how reporting to your local or state health department will occur. If your reporting is performed electronically behind the scenes, then you probably don't have to worry, but just be sure to check it off the implementation list.
