Does anyone have a job/position description that they would be willing to share for an MLT who would only be performing waived testing? Any assistance would be appreciated.

To perform waived tests, one has to have a high school diploma or GED, training, knowledge and competent to perform the test.

Your MLT has more than enough educational attainment to do waived tests.

As Ms. Maniquis stated -   the MLT is more than qualified to perform any POC test as long as it is run per manufacturer's instructions.

Good POCT program includes the below which could be incorporated into the job description.

  • Patient identification

  • Safety

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Initial training

  • Annual Competency

Look at other positions listed in your area and include following manufacturer's directions.

What are the personnel requirements for glucometer testing?  Do you need a high school diploma?

Moderately complex testing requires a high school education.  Waived testing just requires orientation training. If your glucometer is waived, you do not need a high school diploma.
