POC Panic Comments

We are in the process of moving from PWeb to another platform. Since a time that predates me, our panic ISTAT results have had a comment automatically added basically stating that the test was performed at point of care and that the staff is aware of the value. With this new platform it looks like we would lose our ability to auto verify. We would have to add the comment then release the result. Obviously this is not practical.
Do any of you out there have comments attach to panic values? According to our LIS (Cerner) this is rare. By the nature of POC, the bedside staff is already aware of the panic.
Any input would be appreciated.

We do not attach canned statements, only differentiate in the chart that a test was performed POC. Our policy/training indicates staff are responsible for panic values, since they are performing the tests.
Our policy also indicates that the operators are responsible for critical values but we do have comments on the glucometer. The iSTATs do not.
Hi Debra,
You might want to check with interface specialists from the new company. We had our middleware folks script a critical result comment (similar verbiage that you had) that auto attaches before being sent to the LIS (Cerner).
We have them in Cerner........they are attached to pH, K and lactate which covers all of the cartridge types.

We have the comment in Meditech; attaches automatically to any value above the designated critical value.
