Is anyone using the Rapid Comm for the RP 405/500 in the Pediatric ICU setting? Does it order and result based on the tests performed? What other instrumentation is the Rapid Comm able to connect to?

We use RapidComm for our RP500s in NICU, OR, and CCU/ICU. It orders and results based on rules you put in RapidComm. Our ICU and OR just order a basic panel (everything pretty much), but the NICU orders things one by one. We have some panels built, and if the tests chosen fit the panel, then it will order and result that panel. If they choose other tests (which they do all the time) then it will order and result whatever it is they chose. The billing is the biggest headache. The panels all have billing codes, but when they order something that isn't a panel, we have a test called PCATCH, which will result things and then they are manually billed.
Kathleen, do you use the cartridge with Lactate?
Yes, we do. We have that as a separate test, as it is not often used in NICU. We are also implementing NBILI in a few weeks for NICU.
