We are looking to add A1C testing to our Clinic labs. Has anyone used the Abbott Afinion 2? How does it compare to the DCA 2000?
Thanks!

my mobile unit has the Afinion , easy to travel with. My doctors' offices have the Siemens. The Siemens is interfaced to Telcor. Both areas love their devices.
Kathleen,
It does seem prudent to require the 1st A1c to be a lab draw.
To carry that out, the MD/providers are onboard supporting that? They agree to check the chart/history of the patient at your facility before they place the POC order?
Thanks!
Yes, the providers (at least at one system) are on board; this is in their policy for diabetes management. Usually they know their patients, and when the patient is roomed the MA does the check and let's the dr. know that an initial A1C is complete. then they order the POC.
Hi! We are getting the Afinion 2 for A1C. Anyone have a procedure they can share with me? Thanks in advance.
