Fern Testing in Lab

My lab director asked about the possibility of doing fern testing in the lab as opposed to on the floors.
Do any of you do this?
What are your specimen collection, stability and transport requirements?

We did move fern testing to the main lab here a few years ago. it was impossible to keep up with annual competency for physicians with a large group and also residents. A swab is collected on the unit and a slide made. It is labeled and sent to Microbiology thru our pneumatic tube in a clean slide holder. It is run stat
