Barometric Pressure for Blood Gas

I am wondering if any other labs record in their daily maintenance and temperature for their blood gas analyzers the barometric pressure?

Yes, we record it everyday.

We have the I-stat and it captures this and stores it with each result in our middleware.

Thank you Vivian, does anyone know if this is a CAP requirement and if so could you direct me to the area in CAP manual.  I am being inspected this year and this is my first inspection as Point of Care Coordinator. I have gone through enough inspections with CAP in the other areas I worked in.

Hi Joe,

We have EPOCs and they capture and record it with every test in RALS also. We are TJC and I have never been asked about this but if they did, I would show them the documentation in RALS. I don't feel it's necessary to make operators document redundantly. Not sure how CAP feels about it. Of course, I probably jinxed myself as we are in our window for inspection. :)

Good luck with your first inspection! I'm sure you'll do great. Hopefully this will be my last one.

Hello - Can you share what specific device, outside of the analyzers listed above, do you record the barometric pressure from?  We are accreditated by TJC.  During our mock inspection we were only told that we needed to document the barometric pressure for our RapidPoint 500e blood gas analyzers, with no reference to a standard.  I have confirmed with Siemens that the analyzer does not measure the barometric pressure.  We have an i-STAT in the same area that we can pull the value from without purchasing a certified device.  Any suggestions?
