Accu-Chek Inform II Patient Armband Scanning Issue

We have UU14 series multiple firmware devices that randomly will not scan our EPIC armbands. The devices have a camera not laser scanner. We have cleaned printers, checked toner and paper stock for changes. There have been no changes to our barcode setup. Anyone else have this issue and if so, how did you resolve the problem?

We still have this issue as well. There is even more of a problem getting the devices to scan employee name badges since the badges have a shiny finish. I never found a good solution to the problem. I was told by one of the nurse managers that JC mentioned that it was a safety issue the last time they were here so it's a big concern that nothing has been done to address the problem.
The 1400 Roche meters have a higher level of security built in for barcodes so scanning the linear can be a challenge. We have the 2 D box barcode also on our patient wristbands and this works so much easier than the linear 1 D barcode. The hospital uses the 2 D for medication management so it worked out great for us that they included both barcodes on our patient wristbands. The 1400 Roche glucose meter can scan both linear 1 D and 2 D.
Not sure if you could get both on your wristbands. We do use the linear barcode for all other POCT devices because no other vendors have upgraded to 2D except Roche.

Diana,
Try to cover the employee barcode with Scotch tape that is not shiny “Scotch Magic Tape”.
This will take out the shine but keep the black lines intact.
We had a similar issue with the newer optics Roche glucometers years ago not reading employee badges, we had no advance notice from Roche on the change. After dealing with support, the best remedy was to change glucometer companies.
