regulations/laws for POC in EHR

Hello-
Does anyone have a clear idea if CAP or any other governing body requires internal QC for POCT to be placed in a patients EHR? Our hospital is switching to EPIC and we need to know if on our Alere i (for strep/flu in ED and doctors officies) internal QC needs to be an option in the resulting field along with the patients results? On the print out it does state Internal QC: Valid but does this also need to be stated in the EHR?

You do need to be able to provide an audit trail but it is not a requirement for that information to be part of the patient record in the EHR. It's just that many EHR's incorporate an electronic resulting form for the patient result and it will often include a place to document internal QC as a means of not having to keep a separate (paper) log for the QC results.
We have a comment that is hotkeyed when the operator enters the result into ehr(we have a manual strep a test)
Although controls logs should do we felt it better safer than sorry. ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Can anyone show us a screen shot from your EPIC test app (no patient data, of course) that shows how internal QC is resulted? I'm curious as my clinic is building these tests into Epic. I didn't plan for this in the build. Thanks!
