Unexpected i-STAT ACT results in EP

We have had several instances of unexpectedly high ACT results during procedures in the EP lab. This is occurring on several different lot# and operators. Has anyone else experienced this and/or reported it to Abbott?

We don't use the I-STAT, we have the Hemochron Signature Elites. However, when we started doing EP patients here I noticed 2 things. 1-they do more than 1-2 per case and 2-results would be greater than 400 seconds. One patient never had one result that was less than that for the entire case. I called down to question this and was told that the doc wasn't worried, 'he expected those results'. I was just about ready to bite the bullet and ask him if he wanted to use the ACT + cuvettes for EP only so he would get results....and we stopped getting the high results. He must have lowered the amount of heparin slightly because now they read in the high 300s. Most of the regular caths, they keep around 250 sec.
Just my observations...

You did not state the type of cartridge used on the ISTAT. We use the ACTk not the ACTc and have no issues with EP lab.
