Hemolyzed specimens

We are looking to improve our process for tracking hemolyzed specimens. Currently, when we receive a hemolyzed specimen, staff notify the department, the specimen is unreceived, and then they add a canned text which includes:

• Time redraw requested


• Who requested the redraw


• The individual and department notified


• If it was from an IV start or line draw

We use Meditech for our LIS/HIS, and there is no easy way to pull this information.
