Rom Testing

I apologize in advance but I haven't had time to work on this until now so I haven't been paying attention if this has been discussed recently.  Family Birth physicians would like to move away from nitrazine and Fern to Amnisure. I have heard it is good  but expensive. I am trying to research all options and create a chart comparing them so we can make an informed decision to present to the docs.

So far I have found Amnisure, Partosure (which appears to be a spinoff of Amnisure),  Actim Prom and Rom Plus. Am I missing any others?

If anyone has created a chart already so I don't have to reinvent the wheel it would be MUCH appreciated. Otherwise I would be super happy to hear your pros and cons, what PT you use, etc.  If any of you are local to western Pa, contact info for vendors would be helpful also.

Thanks in advance for any information!

I am also interested in this.  We use Amniotest but the cost has drawn attention from management, requiring me to consider other options.  (We are a teaching facility and also use Amniotest and Fern; however, there are satellite hospitals within our system that use only Amnisure.)

Thank you for any information you can share!

I have a comparison for Actim, Amnisure, and ROMPlus somewhere at my desk but I left for the day. I can send it next week when I get back.

Michael,

I would appreciate a copy of this too.We use Amnisure, but are taking a look at ACTIM now. I see 2 advantages and 1 disadvantage. It would be nice to see what you thought.

Thank you,

I just sent it. It’s a brief comparison and I included the 510k links for each one.

Thanks, Michael!

Another issue I found so far was that the CAP survey for ROM was for PAMG-1. We couldn't find a survey for any of the other protein markers. I haven't started looking through other providers yet though.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, everyone!

Lois

Lois, the CAP survey we use is ROM1 Rupture of Fetal Membranes.

Michael, Did you decide on Amnisure then?

Lois

We actually use ROM Plus now.

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

Would you mind sending me your comparison as well?

Danielle.ennis@asante.org

Thanks!

Danielle

We're looking at Actim ROM - we currently use Amnisure but are not crazy about the interferences. I hope you wouldn't mind sending me your comparison chart as well. Thanks!

FYI - I called CAP.  Their ROM 1 survey does cover all the protein markers. Price $442. He didn't know why it only has PAMG-1 in their catalog.

WSLH also has one. PT03000 Price $340

We use ROM+ in our OB emergency department.  Our PT is from API.  We did not consider Actim as it is for patient's greater than 29 weeks.  We switched from Amnisure about 5 years ago due to decrease cost for ROM+ and less time with the swab inserted into the vagina.  There is a statement from the FDA from 2018 regarding the over reliance on rupture of membrane testing from physicians.  They should be used with other confirmatory tests and not alone.

We are considering switching from Amnisure to Rom Plus.  Does anyone have  problems with the Rom Plus?
