New Requirements for Molecular micro waived testing
Hello to all,
We are going "Live" with the Abbott ID NOW in 2 weeks. There is an article in "CAP Today" that has 4 NEW guidelines...Yes 4 NEW guidelines for contamination possibilities. There are ways to prevent contamination and I have those (gloves, wipes for positives and wipe counters etc.)
Does anyone have procedures that could possibly help me with this???
Procedures such as monitor for the presence of false positives, prevent specimen loss or contamination during collection or transportation, safely handing specimens from patients who have avian flu, SARS or other pathogens, and clinical interpretation.
If anyone has set up POCT molecular testing for RSV, Flu A/B, and Strep A, please share, if you can, your procedures.
Thank you in advance,
Julie Brim

We are going live with the ID NOW in the same timeframe. Our site-specific CAP checklist doesn't have the new inspection points. Do you have the actual CAP wording of the new inspection points?
