Urine pH test

Hi everyone,  our oncology unit is requesting for a POC urine pH test. Do anyone know of a pH strip that is FDA approved/cleared and CLIA waived? Or has anyone been testing urine pH only? Thanks

Would pH paper be acceptable?

Hi Regin,

At our hospital, we use the pH strip indicators from CardinalHealth. The pH range is 4.5 to 10.0 with a sensitivity of 0.5. Product number Cat. P1119-6A. it is CLIA waived approved. It is used for urine pH testing in oncology patients.

Hi Pedro,

I am actually looking into Cardinal Health and reached with our regional sales consultant, however when I ask about FDA and CLIA information, he confirmed with the manufacturer and said that it is not FDA approved or CLIA waived for pH testing.

Do you have this urine pH on your CAP Test/Activity list? and does it require a PT or alternate assessment? I would like to hear more since we will be using this for our oncology patients too. I'm just concern on the compliance part. Thank you

Clinitest urine test strips test for pH. Papers are clia waived for pH of body fluids and still needs QC monthly, so why not use the urine strips?
